The New New England Classics

In an era of satin versus flat paints and colors and color schemes, pattern is sometimes a breath of fresh air. Stenciling is trendy, but wallpaper is back- and in a big way. And we know what you’re thinking- old school paper, thick paste adhesive, the difficulty of laying it straight, and of course- the hours and hours it takes to scrape it off when you’re tired of it. Or the peel and stick- that doesn’t stick. But today’s wallpapers are none of these things. Newer wallpaper options are organic, low VOC, and super easy to lay and remove! Bright, bold botanicals, demure neutrals, textured patterns, geometrics and some very luxe bling papers are sure to define the new New England classics. Here at In-Home, winner of a Houzz Service Award for two consecutive years, we have quite a library stacking up of the very best wallpapers we could get our hands on. Our current favorites are reproductions of antique murals- 18th century gardens with pinks and blues are spot-on in historic old homes. Some of the latest trends we are watching include papering closets with bright and bold or dark and seductive patterns, paired with gorgeous lighting and statement carpeting, for truly knockout designs. Papered powder rooms seem to be having a moment as well. Conventional thinking might have you believe that subtle color and pattern are the way to go in a small bathroom, but we are thinking outside the box and cannot get enough of bold, dramatic paper in powder rooms! Don’t like the idea of an entire room of wall to wall paper? Accent walls in entry ways, bedrooms and living rooms are a gorgeous way to break up solid color, without all the commitment. No matter your style, we have a paper to delight you.
