Why is the dragon shown on most Oriental Pottery Items?

Historically, the Chinese dragon was associated with the Emperor of China and used as a symbol to represent imperial power. The founder of the Han dynasty Liu Bang claimed that he was conceived after his mother dreamt of a dragon. ... The dragon in the Qing dynasty appeared on the first Chinese national flag.

Types of Dragons Include:

  • Tianlong, the Celestial Dragons, are the celestial dragons who pull the chariots of the gods and guard their palaces.
  • Shenlong, the Spiritual Dragons, control the wind and the rain.
  • Fucanglong, the Dragons of Hidden Treasures, are underworld dragons which guard buried treasures, both natural and man-made.
