Early 19th Century Cast Brass and Gilded Candlesticks With Romantic Figures From Civil War Period - a Pair
 
Antique pair of flat cast candlestick made of brass on carved wood bases gilded in gold. Depicting a man/ soldier with his seated sweetheart. Wearing civil war period dress. He does not have shoes , but she does. The background is of leaves and flowers. The gilding has aged nicely and there is some areas were the brass is coming through which adds the highlights. One of the candlesticks has a hole in the back of the base which looks as though it was done before the gilding as the red stain is painted on wood before the gilding would have been done.
