1930s Lignum Vitae Wood Urn

 

Back Story On This Item

 

The owner found this in antique shop many years ago, Its just such a beautiful shape and color she could not resist it. Lignum vitae" is Latin for "wood of life", and derives its name from its medicinal uses; lignum vitae resin has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions from coughs to arthritis, and chips of the wood can also be used to brew a tea.
The wood come from Africa but not sure where it was made. It takes a lot of skill to turn a piece like this
